"It's not my party"

Yesterday we invited a number of our collegues who are still single for the break of fast at our house. The occasion coincided with the birthday of our son. Instead of being happy about it, the boy sulked saying that he was dissappinted the occasion was not to celebrate his birthday but celebrate our friends. The people that came were not his friends but ours.

We chose to ignore his antics because sooner or later he will learn that one of the traits of being a good son will be to cherish and respect the friends of his parents.

BTW, we did have a family celebration of the boy's birthday with a cake and candle plus the singing and phototaking the day before his actual birthday because we knew that the next day will be less personal.
